Encinitas Ranch Men's Club - Schubach 2-Man Better Ball
    Dan: 81 !! (16 GIRs, 7 3-putts)
    Alex: 81
    Team Score: Net 57

Amazing day for me, with all the good approach shots and Greens-in-Reguation.  If I could have only putt better, without all those 3-putts, it would have been a MAGICAL round.

Reward: Private jet from Carlsbad to Mesquite, NV

This was the start of our back 9 in this shotgun start.

Sliced driver to the fairway of #18 coming back up the hill.  From there, sweet approach from 180 or so ONTO the green.

2 putt for par.

Score: 4

Straight driver from the tee, skull/shank to the right on 2nd.  Approach from 130 or so was sweet.

2 putt from there for par.

Score: 5

From way back in the tee box, 7-iron to about 18 feet from the pin.  Still can't putt, so 2-putt for par.

Score: 3

Per Alex and my strategy before the round, this is a good hole for me to play conservatively.  I get 2 strokes here with my handicap of 19 on this course.  Dogleg right around the water/trees makes the driver with potential slice a bad call.

3-iron straight and pure, leaves me 145 or so to the green.  Unfortunately, I still can't putt, so 3 putt coming up the hill, for bogey (net birdie).

Score: 5

Easy driving hole, lots of room to spare.  Just like usual, end up by the 150-yard bush. Approach from there leaves me about 20 feet from pin.

2 putt for par.

Score: 4

Another pretty easy hole, tees were up today, by the whites. General slice, leaves me in the rough, but easy 100-yard shot, over the bunkers.

3 putt (UGH) after a "scrape the ground" putt, sucks.

Score: 5

Driver faded a bit, but still good angle to approach from the right.  Up the hill to blind green, ended up off the fringe behind the hole, but 2-putt from there.

Score: 4

Tough par 3 over the water, from front of the back tees.  7-iron gutsy, but less chance for slice/fade, and pin was in the front.  Left it about 12 feet below the hole just on the front of the green.

Still can't make even an uphill straight putt.  Tap in for par.

Score: 3

Finishing hole.  Pretty decent drive, faded a bit to just off the fairway. 5-iron from there, I was just trying to put it anywhere up to approach distance (couldn't reach in 2 with the bunkers all around the front).  Hit a LONG shot, that left me at the mouth of the green.

Skulled my chip shot to just off the back of the green.  2 putt from there for bogey.

Score: 6

Started on this hole (shotgun start).

Easy 3-iron down the middle, GIR, 3-putt.
Ugh, tee shot was great way to start, but not a 3-putt from 40 feet.

Score: 5

OK, now we're playing!

Birdie from about 25 feet.  Long put goes pretty straight...and IN.

With Dan's handicap, this is a net 1.

Score: 2

Driver off the tee, right rough, 5-iron down to the approach.

However, another 3-putt.

Score: 6

Driver off the tee, sliced it right.  Easy uphill approach to the green, 2 putt for par.

Score: 4

Normally this hole isn't very hard.  Playing the green tees (sometimes near the whites, other times near the blues), this was the first time I've ever hit from the further back tee box on the other side of the cart path.

I wasn't thinking when choosing clubs, since normally this is just a 5-iron down to the start of the up-slope to the green.  Took 4-iron, and barely got it out down the hill, was in the rough before the fairway.

Hacked my second shot to the upslope, then marginal chip shot to the front fringe. 3-putt from there.  This was my "blow-up" hole.

Score: 6

Tee shot to green (was CTP at the time, but later beat out by someone else), then 2-putt for par.

Score: 3

The blind tee shot (towards the aiming flag) with 3-iron didn't go so well.  Sliced it to the camera poll in the brush to the right.

Since my ball was on the cement holding the poll, got a drop, hit it down the hill.  Got down there, and ended up hitting the wrong ball.  (another Callaway Golf ball was there just below the cart path, and mines was even further down, closer to the green)

Took a penalty, and finished out the hole from there.

Score: 6

Sweet driver tee shot cut off the corner, and faded onto the fairway, leaving about 100 to the green.  Approach to about 15 feet, but still couldn't sink it.

2 putt for par.

Score: 4

Driver off the tee to just before the bunker.  From there, shanked a shot up and to the right, but still only 120 or so to the green.  Decent approach to front bottom of the green.

3-putt that long distance putt for bogey.
